Evaluation Rubric

Modified from the Engineering Design Process Portfolio Scoring Rubric created by Goldberg, the rubrics available for the EDPL provide an evaluation guideline for teachers to determine the proficiency level for the student EDPL product.  There is a rubric for each step of the Engineering Design Process, as outlined on the first page of the document and each step is scored on a proficiency scale.  The rubrics for middle school are based on a five-category scale with descriptors for each category and differs from the high school rubrics that contain six categories with descriptors.  The rubric scale does not provide a grade for the EDPL, but provide an evaluation measure to base a grade for the student work. They will also provide a common tool to help measure student growth over the duration of use during the class and over the years.

Student Checklist

The student checklist document is provided as a resource to provide the students insight into what elements should be contained in their EDPL.  The checklist is based on the elements contained in the rubric documents to act as a guide for the students to make sure they have provided the minimum information needed for their EDPL.
